Upgrade to Hard SPL

Hard SPL will allow you to flash cooked ROMs without SuperCID’ing your device and also will protect your device from being bricked in a bad flash.  If a bad flash occurs it should remain in bootloader, and you can re-flash another ROM.

Before you proceed, check which SPL is on your device.  Manually enter the Bootloader by pressing Volume Down button and performing a soft reset at the same time.  Remember the number that is stated on the tri-colour screen, in case you need to revert to original bootloader for warranty purposes.  Original bootloaders can be found here.

1.     Download a Hard-SPL from the forums here

The signed version of Hard-SPL will allow you to only flash signed ROMs which have been tested and proven safe by the ELITE team (recommended).  The Developer Edition allows you to flash unsigned ROMs, but you'd better know what you're doing if you don't want to end up with an expensive paperweight.

2.    Unzip the Files, and click on ‘ROMUpdateUtility.exe’

3.    Check the checkbox, and click ‘next’

4.    Follow the directions in the window, and establish an activesync connection with your device

*Make sure the activesync icon is be green (finished synchronizing)
*Make sure your battery is charged

5.    Check the checkbox, click ‘next’

6.    In the next window, click the ‘Update’ button

This will show the version number of the ROM, radio, or in this case bootloader that you are about to flash.

7.    After the version number has appeared, click next

8.    In the following window, click ‘next’

after you click this, the flash will begin, so do not disconnect your device or do anything stupid on your computer

9.    Your device will display a completely black screen.  A Progress bar will appear on your computer screen, and after a while your device will display a grey screen with progress bar.  Be patient while your device is being updated.

If you are having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically, please copy the file "SSPLManual.exe" from the directory you unzipped the installation package to the device and run it (recommended to run it from the Windows folder).  INSTALLING THIS WILL HARD-RESET THE DEVICE.  Your device screen will turn black and you can start from step 2 of this guide

10.    Once your device is finished updating, it will automatically soft reset.  Click the ‘Finish’ button to exit the RUU program.

To confirm is Hard-SPL is on your device, manually enter Bootloader by pressing the Volume Down and performing a soft reset at the same time.  If successful you will see the tri-colour screen and the following will be displayed

Hard SPL 1.40.Olinex
DIAM100   MFG   64M
SPL-1.40.OliNex

CONGRATULATIONS!!  You have now installed Hard-SPL on your device!!
