Upgrade ROM
Before proceeding to flash a new ROM on your device, take note of the following:
*you will lose all installed programs
*you will lose operator and mms settings
*you will lose e-mail settings, and existing messages/sms
all data/files placed on your 4GB will remain intact
Make sure to backup your files, programs, passwords and registration info before flashing
Make sure you have Hard-SPL installed on your device before flashing a new ROM. Instructions can be found in STEP 1 of this guide.
1. Download the ROM of your choice, and unzip the file to a new folder.
2. Unzip the Files, and click on ‘ROMUpdateUtility.exe’
3. Check the checkbox, and click ‘next’
4. Follow the directions in the window, and establish an activesync connection with your device
*Make sure the activesync icon is be green (finished synchronizing)
*Make sure your battery is charged
5. Check the checkbox, click ‘next’
6. In the next window, click the ‘Update’ button
This will show the version number of the ROM, radio, you are about to flash.
7. After the version number has appeared, click next
8. In the following window, click ‘next’
after
you click this, the flash will begin, so do not disconnect your device
or do anything stupid on your computer
9. Your device will load the Hard-SPL bootloader (tri-coloured screen). A
Progress bar will appear on your computer screen, and after a while your device will
display a grey screen with progress bar. Be patient while your device
is being updated.
10. Once your device is finished updating, it will automatically
soft reset. Click the ‘Finish’ button to exit the RUU program.
CONGRATULATIONS!! You have now installed a new ROM on your device!!
